CHIROPRACTIC CARE In Austin

Chiropractor Austin TX Michele Gerard Giving A Chiropractic Adjustment

Have you considered seeing a chiropractor in Austin? Many patients receiving chiropractic adjustments in our office experience a remarkable improvement in many health conditions. Yet, chiropractic care is not a cure or a treatment for any condition. How is that possible?

Why Chiropractic Care Is Necessary in Austin

When the spine is misaligned (subluxation) there can be significant interference to the healthy functioning of the nervous system. That interference often results in far more than pain. It can lead to dysfunction in the glands, organs, and cells which must receive a constant flow of the proper messages to work as they should. Plus – an emerging body of evidence shows that spinal adjustments improve your brain and immune function.

Here’s how this works:

One of the most common issues we see in the office is an over-active sympathetic nervous system. Spinal subluxations irritate and activate the sympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system acts as the accelerator of the car. It tells all systems to GO. This creates the “fight or flight” reaction in the body. Heart rate and blood pressure go up. People can feel “antsy” and can’t concentrate. They fidget and overreact to normal situations. They have trouble sleeping. They often have lowered adrenal and thyroid function. They are fatigued. They are aging at an accelerated rate. They are not at peace in their body.

Think of your spine as a windmill, its purpose is to generate energy for your brain, which requires a massive amount of energy to function properly and manufacture the hormones and chemicals it needs to keep you healthy. When spinal segments do not move properly, the brain does not get the healthy flow of messages and the energy it needs. This leads to a vicious cycle of sympathetic dominance, and ultimately a breakdown of the organs and tissues of the body.

How chiropractic can help and what to expect:

Think of all the injuries you have had which have healed perfectly. But sometimes, we do not heal as we should. Everyone has their very own doctor within and your body knows how to heal you. If a condition is not resolving itself, nerve interference may be the problem.

We begin with a thorough consultation and assessment of your nervous system and spine. If we find subluxations (misalignments of the vertebrae) causing irritation and interference to the proper flow of messages between the brain and the body, we can help. We usually take X-rays for specific information about how and where to adjust, and when adjustments are appropriate. If subluxations are found, we then begin with specific chiropractic adjustments that allow the body to heal itself.

Chiropractic is tried and true:

Chiropractic is over 120 years old, and one of the reasons it has survived and flourished is that it helped so many people with major health issues during its first 60 years. In those early days, people went to chiropractors with serious health challenges. The great flu pandemic of 1918 kill millions of people worldwide and this is when researchers first noted that those who went to chiropractors survived at a much higher rate, in fact, the survival rate was 40 times greater than those under medical care. This spectacular era led to the licensure of chiropractic. After antibiotics and other drugs came on the scene in the mid-1900s, this changed, and chiropractic became more known for how it benefited aches and pains.

Our focus:

“As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.” We now know that spines should be checked and maintained from birth. This is why we focus so much on pregnancy, babies, and kids in our office. It is so simple to correct a small problem before it becomes a big one. We have adjusted babies as young as two minutes old. Really! It is safe, effective, and necessary. Our chiropractic kids have much better overall health than those who do not receive chiropractic care.
